Quick Fix

• 1. Double click on My Computer.
• 2. Double click on your C drive.
• 3. Double click on the Windows folder.
• 4. Double click on the System folder.
• 5. Copy (don't move) the file shell.dll by right clicking on the file. A pop-up menu appears. Select Copy.
• 6. Back out of that folder back to the Windows folder and find the System32 folder.
• 7. Double click on the System32 folder to open it.
• 8. Right click on an empty part of the window. A pop-up menu appears again. Select Paste.
• 9. The shell.dll file will appear in the folder
• 10. Right click on the file itself. A pop-up menu will appear. Select Properties.
• 11. Check the Read Only box under attributes and click "Apply" and then "OK".
• 12. Close all open windows.
• 3. Reboot your system.
(The virus or spyware may still on your system, but will be unable to delete the Shell.dll file because you have set the file attributes to "Read-only".)
